We are excited to offer on behalf of one of our clients this outstanding 1960 Fiat Abarth 750 Zagato.
For many years, 2shores has been offering selected, finest grade examples of collectible automobiles. This very rare Abarth Zagato 750 Sestriere is one of those examples!
Originally the aerodynamic 750 Zagato had a single-cam engine. It was first presented at the 1955 Turin Motor Show. The original model was also offered in a more luxurious variant for export (called "America", as it was almost strictly meant for the United States) and a stripped down model with lower, uncovered headlamps and smaller taillights for the domestic Italian market. The "America" also has a different layout around the rear license plate. The aluminium bodywork has Zagato's famous "double-bubble" design and Abarth's tuned derivazione engine with 42 hp. By the time of the appearance of the Abarth Zagato Record Monza 750 Bialbero, the bodywork had been unified into a separate model with a rather large hump on the engine lid, made necessary by the taller twin-cam motor. There were then three distinct models: 750 "Double Bubble," 750 Record Monza, and 750 "Sestriere." The Sestriere had a single cam pushrod engine, and the majority were built with a steel body, a very small number of alloy cars, and there is one aluminium car known to exist today. The Sestriere had upright headlights, and two very large air intakes on the engine lid, much wider than a double bubble. The Sestriere is believed to be the last model produced for Abarth by Zagato, due to disagreements between Abarth and Zagato.
Our car on offer is one of only a handful (most sources believe 25) produced Zagato Sestriere examples, one of 10 believed to be still in existence and for sure the most original and well documented one. This car was home in Southern California and belonged to one family for 50 years(!!) from 1964 to 2014. It had one more owner in the US and was sold to and imported by the current owner in Germany in 2019.
In Germany this Abarth was consequently treated to a light rust repair on both doors and new paint with a strong emphasis to keep the car as original as possible. It is a stunning example with a wonderful patina and comes with full documentation and a current FIVA Identidy card.
Please study all the photos closely to evaluate the condition of this car!
