1950 Buick Custom Sedanette
The original owner, John Dahemi, bought the car off the showroom floor in 1950 and owned it until 1990. In the mid 50’s he had seen the Buick that Sam Barris had done. Impressed with it, he went to Barris to have him do his. Only in talking to Sam, he said “he would never do another one” (it was a very difficult chop).
He then took it to the Ayala Brothers where Al Ayala did the work. Before finishing the car while in primer, they installed a Buick nail-head with blower. They took it to the Dry Lakes to try to beat the record in its class; supposedly missing by only 2 mph. The car was then completed. In 1981 it was repainted with new interior. The power-train today is a 350 Chevrolet.
The car still shows very nice with some expected patina for a 29 year old restoration. A unique and very cool looking street custom ready to be enjoyed.
